Background:
The Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC) certifies over 14,000 Women’s Business Enterprises (WBE’s) each year as owned, controlled, and operated by women in the United States. The organization is also authorized by the U.S. Small Business Administration as a third-party certifier under the Federal Women-Owned Small Business (WOSB) Program launched in 2010.
Issues:
WBENC wanted to develop and deliver high-quality programs and services for WBE’s seeking to grow through government contracts. Demands on the organization’s team grew close to capacity as it grew the country’s largest third-party WOSB certification program. WBENC wanted to offer its WBE’s sophisticated support for success after certification.
Summit Insight Solution:
Summit Insight, a certified Women’s Business Enterprise, began offering government contracting expertise at WBENC’s national conferences moderating panels and delivering workshops. Following repeated critical acclaim from hundreds of delegates, WBENC management engaged Summit Insight to provide comprehensive services, and staff its new Government Programs Manager position.
Results:
WBENC began to develop and deliver outreach and collaboration among a complex network of stakeholders, internal and external. Summit Insight’s CEO, Judy Bradt, developed training content made available to all 14 of WBENC’s Regional Partner Organizations and provided support in role of industrial translator and liaison among public and private sector stakeholders collaborating develop and deliver comprehensive services to meet the needs of WBE’s in government markets and tailor programs to exceed their expectations.
