Case Study: Professional Services — Health Care Staffing

Client Testimonial

Summit Insight’s programs are comprehensive but easy to understand…

…because of the way Judy lays out the curriculum, her joyful positive personality, and her accessibility even after our formal engagement ended.

Situation Analysis

Compass Government Solutions (CGS) is a growing woman-owned company providing healthcare staffing solutions, particularly to the Defense Health Agency, Health and Human Services, and Veterans Affairs. The company had won several significant contract vehicles that were about to generate a flood of task order opportunities.

Problems Solved

CGS needed to define the right criteria to discern the opportunities that best fit specific strategic teaming arrangements,  which ones CGS could do on their own, and which were flat no-go out of the gate. Then they needed to train a new team member to use that criteria in an efficient work flow to assess and filter opportunities. But first, CGS needed a comprehensive tutorial in navigating essential elements of government contracting to a new employee not familiar with Government contracting.

Work Completed

CGS chose Summit Insight’s Federal Business Mentorship Service to strengthen and fully engage their team in growing the business.

In five one-hour sessions spread over about six weeks, the key team member learned the essentials of how Federal business is done in their niche. She developed, proposed, and confirmed opportunity pursuit criteria with the executive team. She also developed and refined a workflow and tracking process to integrate the flow of opportunities from multiple sources. Most rewarding, by the end of six weeks of mentorship, she gained  significant experience and confidence in providing comprehensive bid recommendations to the CGS executive team.

Results

Compass Government Services is now making confident strategic pursuit decisions related to multiple individual projects each worth between $1 million and $5 million.
